Sinulog 2027: Cebu's grand fiesta, and the January triangle
Sinulog runs in Cebu City to Sunday 17 January 2027, the centre of a three-week run of Santo Niño fiestas that takes in Kalibo and Iloilo. What is confirmed, what is tradition, and how to plan around it.
Sinulog is the Philippines' defining festival: the feast of the Santo Niño in Cebu City, where the devotion is centuries old and the street dancing fills the city centre for over a week. The 2027 festival window runs from the opening salvo on 7 January to the Grand Parade on Sunday 17 January 2027, with the Cebu City Sports Center as the main judging venue. The Sinulog Foundation's executive director has set the parade date and venue; the full programme was still being finalised when we checked, so our event page labels the dates tentative, with the basis stated on the page.
The shape of the week
The festival builds: novena masses and the opening salvo, cultural shows through the week, the fluvial procession on the Saturday, when the image crosses from Mandaue by boat, and the solemn foot procession the same afternoon. Sunday is the Grand Parade: contingents from across the country dancing the sinulog step, two steps forward and one back, through the city centre to the Sports Center, from morning until long after dark. The city does not sleep much in between.
The January triangle
Sinulog is one of three great Santo Niño fiestas in three weekends. Ati-Atihan in Kalibo, the oldest of them, runs 15 to 17 January 2027 (our listing), and Dinagyang in Iloilo City follows on 22 to 24 January (listing). Pilgrims and festival crews travel between them; a traveller with two weeks in January can see all three, with Cebu's flights as the hub.
Planning notes
Cebu's hotels fill for Sinulog weekend months ahead, and the uptown streets near the parade route go first. Book the room when you book the flight. The Cebu City guide covers where the events concentrate, and the hotels page explains the city's bases. Expect road closures along the route from the Friday, and plan airport transfers with the processions in mind.
