Alex Eala comes home: one December day at the Philippine Arena

The Philippines' top tennis player headlines a homecoming exhibition at the Philippine Arena on Tuesday 8 December 2026: a main match against Indonesia's Janice Tjen, a celebrity match, the country's rising juniors, and gates open from 10:30 in the morning. What the day looks like, and how a tennis crowd does the Bocaue trip.

For most of the year, watching Alex Eala means a stream at an awkward hour. On Tuesday 8 December 2026 it means a day trip to Bocaue: Alex Eala Live: Game. Set. Celebrate fills the Philippine Arena for a one-day exhibition built around the Philippines' top tennis player, with Indonesia's No. 1, Janice Tjen, across the net in the main match. It is a daytime event rather than a night show, and that changes how the whole trip works.

The running order

The published programme runs like a small festival. Gates open at 10:30am and the arena bowl at noon. At 1:45pm the Hot Stars session puts the country's rising PHILTA players and juniors on court, at 2:20pm a celebrity match pairs Manny Pacquiao, Anne Curtis, Piolo Pascual, Andrea Brillantes, Donny Pangilinan and Julia Barretto with professional partners, and at 3pm Eala plays Tjen. A trophy presentation and closing remarks are scheduled for 5:35pm. The organiser notes that the schedule, the lineup and the celebrity appearances can change without notice, so treat the times as the plan rather than a promise.

Why a Tuesday works

The date is doing quiet work. 8 December is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a special non-working holiday in the Philippines, which is how a Tuesday exhibition can open its gates mid-morning and still expect a crowd. It also means the roads run on a holiday pattern: lighter in the morning than a working Tuesday, heavier again as Manila heads out in the evening. Arrive for the early sessions rather than sweeping in for the main match; the juniors and the celebrity match are part of what the ticket buys.

Tickets

Tickets are sold through TicketWorld, with published prices starting from ₱600. The prime floor rows carry an extra: they include access to an official pre-match gala dinner and player meet and greet on 7 December at a venue in Manila. Everything else is the standard arena choice of floor, lower and upper tiers in a 55,000 seat indoor bowl, with the court set on the arena floor.

The Bocaue trip, tennis version

Our Philippine Arena guide covers the trip in full, and the Bocaue guide lists everything else at the Ciudad de Victoria complex. The tennis day bends the usual concert rules in your favour: a finish around 5:35pm means the expressway run back to Metro Manila happens in daylight, and the point-to-point buses are not disgorging a crowd at midnight. What does not change: leave earlier than feels necessary, because the complex empties all at once, and base yourself in Quezon City or central Manila the night before rather than anywhere nearer, as the hotels page explains. Flying in, Clark International Airport is the closer gateway, with NAIA the other option; the getting there page sets out both runs.
